Fred Hughes
DIRECTOR OF GENETICS AND NURSERY
Fred Hughes is a USMC Combat Veteran who served 2 deployments to Afghanistan which resulted in meritorious promotions to Sergeant. His dedication to duty led to a Navy Achievement Medal, over a half dozen ribbons including Combat Action, and was an honor graduate of both the Joint Fire Observer (JFO) and Corporal Course. Fred led over 200 tactical patrols and oversaw the destruction of many Improvised Explosive Devices (IED). After the Marine Corps Fred Hughes continued to support the United States Government and the diplomatic mission overseas by serving as a Personal Protective Specialist in Iraq for two years. During that period Fred also wrote 3 fitness books highlighting his dedication to public service and helping others achieve their goals. Fred has been involved in Cannabis growing and breeding for over 17 years, today certified as a Master Grower. In 2018 Fred began the transition of breeding with CBD plants, producing genetics for over 200 acres of hemp. Over the next two years Fred developed a strategy and Standard Operating Procedure responsible for producing over 1.5 million clones and filling over 500 acres of land with hemp. After switching to CBD, Fred has created over 150 genetic varieties with desirable ratios of CBD to THC. His focus has began breeding regional outdoor varieties primarily for the Southeast with a focus on heat and humidity resilience. In the 2020 season, 150,000 clones from varieties Fred created went to fields in Georgia and Tennessee. This large acreage test proved the varieties bred for the Southeast were solid and the breeding program worked. Fred and his team went on to produce over 17 million feminized Grizzly CBD seeds with a 99.99% female rate and 97% germination rate. His drive to share the power of cannabis has put genetic research and development as a top priority. |
Patrick Hughes
DIRECTOR OF NURSERY AND FARM SERVICES
Patrick's interest in cultivating cannabis started as a teenager. This passion for growing would take him to the University of Mississippi, at the time the site of the only legal grow in the U.S. After graduating from Ole Miss, Patrick headed west to California, where he started his career in medical cannabis. Patrick enjoyed success at multiple farm locations on the West coast, and focused on breeding and cultivating cannabinoid profiles useful for treating injuries for veterans returning from combat: localized, persistent pain, PTSD, and Traumatic Brain Injury. The opportunity to partner with his brother Fred back in the Southeast brought Patrick back home, and together with Fred and Wolfe, the three teamed up to grow hundreds of acres of hemp, thousands of pounds of smokable flower, and millions of clones and feminized seeds. Patrick is dedicated to soil and plant health and strives to help cannabis thrive in emerging marketplaces. He is the backbone of our consulting and marketing team and a guy willing to go the extra mile in the greenhouse, the field, or on the road. |
